Is it safe to ride a dented aluminum bike frame?
In the near term it’s reasonably safe — the dent is not sufficiently deep to seriously weaken the tube (though one does need to be concerned about the integrity of the welds on the rest of the bike, given it’s been in an accident).
Is a dented bike frame bad?
If it were a hole, sure. But with a dent like this, the material is still there and importantly, it’s still solid – which means it’s still going to take load. There’s such a thing as too much caution. Scrapping a frame for this is like staying inside all day because technically you might get skin cancer from the sun.

How do you fix frame damage?
Absolutely! Contrary to popular belief, frame damage can be repaired by an auto body shop with skilled technicians. Repair is done using specialized framing machines, which can return as close to factory specifications. These machines use hydraulic pressure and torque to straighten bent parts of your frame.
How do you shrink dents in aluminum?
The trick to shrinking aluminum is to heat the surface of the metal to encourage the molecules to move back into the hot area, thus reducing the size. Considering aluminum does not change colors when it is hot, purchase a temperature crayon at a home or auto body supply shop before shrinking.
How do you get dents out of aluminum boats?

Do aluminum bikes break?
Unlike steel, aluminum does not bend before breaking. It will break with too much pressure and will be completely useless. Aluminum bike frames need to remain completely intact to be effective. As soon as they experience a crack or significant damage, it is no longer safe to ride.
